| What Age to Start Staying Home Alone? | | |

| FleeceTraveler | Apr 20, 9:31pm | My son is begging to able to stay home alone. He feels he is old enough and ready. I am on the fence. I wanted to find out what other parents feel is an appropriate age to start staying home alone. I know there are a lot of factors to consider (maturity, safety, length of time) but in general what age do you think is appropriate to start letting your child stay home alone?
I also posted a parent poll on my blog to gather more parent opinions (eleven2seventeen.com [eleven2seventeen.com]). Feel free to visit the blog too and cast your vote. |

Considering that most daycares end at age 12, I would say 12(I used to babysit at 12, but it was a different world).
I feel like my 10 yr old would be safe for a SHORT amount of time, but for my own peace of mind I don't leave him except to run to the gas station or something. |

outside of governmental regulation, it really has more to do w the kid than the age, some kids are extremely responsible at a young age, while many adults are too foolish to be trusted ;) |
